Samsung has officially launched its latest software update, One UI 8, which is based on Android 16. The update is now rolling out to the new Galaxy S25 series and will be available for a wide range of Galaxy devices in the coming months. One UI 8 promises a more intuitive and personalized user experience with a strong emphasis on artificial intelligence, enhanced security, and a user interface optimized for various form factors.

One UI 8 brings a host of new features and improvements, with a significant focus on AI-powered capabilities:
- Advanced AI Integration: One UI 8 introduces multimodal AI, allowing for more natural interactions with your device through voice, touch, and visuals. This is powered by features like Gemini Live for real-time visual conversations and a “Now Bar” on the lock screen that provides contextual updates. The popular “Circle to Search” feature also gets an upgrade with gaming assistance.
- Creative AI Tools: Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the new AI-powered editing tools. “Generative Edit” can automatically detect and remove unwanted elements from the background of your photos, while “Portrait Studio” lets you create personalized and artistic avatars.
- Enhanced Camera Performance: The front-facing camera receives a significant upgrade to 12MP, featuring the ProVisual Engine for improved selfie quality, especially in low-light conditions. A new “Low noise mode” and “Super HDR video” will further enhance your photos and videos.
- Next-Level Security: Security is a top priority in One UI 8. “Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP)” creates app-specific encrypted storage to protect your sensitive data. “Knox Matrix” enhances security across your connected Galaxy devices.
- Optimized User Experience: The user interface has been refined for a more seamless experience across all Galaxy devices, including foldables. A new dynamic clock design adapts to your wallpaper, and the “AI Results View” displays information in a split-screen or floating window, allowing you to multitask more efficiently.
Rollout Schedule:
The One UI 8 update is being rolled out in phases. The Galaxy S25 series is the first to receive the update, starting September 15, 2025. Other eligible devices will receive the update according to the following schedule:
- October: Galaxy S24 series, S24 FE, S23 series, S23 FE, Tab S10 series, Tab S10 FE series, Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, S22 series, Tab S9 series, Tab S9 FE series, and select Galaxy A series models.
- November: Galaxy Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, Tab S8 series, Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, and additional Galaxy A series models.
